Bold Perfume

The woman with an alabaster jar of ointment overcame a scandalous past to become a person whose story is one of the most well-known in the Bible.

The Bible text is Luke 7:36-50. The woman was not named here but we do know she had a bad reputation. Respectable people did not associate with her kind. Yet we see her here being accepted by Christ and made whole. What can leaders learn from her?
  1. Own who you are. In her acknowledgment of who she was - she wore no disguise, figurative or otherwise, to shield herself from judgmental eyes - she was able to get the help she needed. People miss out on much by pretending to be better than they really are.
  2. Be bold in pursuing what you need. She did not let fear of gossip, mockery or aforementioned judgmental eyes make her miss out on a key opportunity. So put on your thick skin and do what you need to do, regardless.
